Turning feedback into action!

By Zach Hisert | Sales Research and Development Assistant

Hello everyone!

Recently, we administered a survey via Twitter to see how you felt about our feed (@Syracusejobs) and what we could do to improve it. We also gave away a $50 gift certificate to Empire Brewing Company (congratulations @MuruganPandian). Well, the results are in, and we’d like to show you that we’re not one of those companies who asks for feedback and then ignores it. We heard you, Syracuse, and now we want to share with you some of the ways we are putting your suggestions into play.

Zach was attacked with some great feedback!

But before we do that, we’d like to mention that there were several great ideas; however, we cannot take action on all of them at this time. One suggestion called for career book reviews. While this is a good idea, it would be difficult for us to dedicate the amount of time required to complete a book review and still conduct daily operations. We do love to read and over time we would like to share our selections, but most of us are still caught up in the fiction world which has nothing to do with finding a job!

Another idea that we are unable to put into practice is to give contact info for specific jobs that are exclusive to our Twitter following. We can provide our followers links to jobs we have publicly posted, but our goal is to provide opportunities to as many qualified candidates as we can. It was also suggested that we set up direct contact with employers for job seekers. Part of what we do is pre-screen for our clients so that only the most qualified applicants reach their desks. Providing direct contact information would allow easy access for all applicants, both qualified and unqualified, making the hiring process much more difficult and time-consuming for the employer, reducing the chance that your resume will even get attention.

Another suggestion was to provide some statistics about various careers in CNY. While this is another great idea, this would take a great deal of time and research that at this point we do not have the ability or resources to commit. Possibly in the future though!

While we are sorry that we cannot turn all of your great suggestions into our feed, we would like to show you things we are doing to improve our Twitter feed!

One suggestion we received was to retweet, include more tips, and tweet more motivational quotes from others. If you follow us on Twitter, you probably have already noticed the increase in quotes and retweets from our feed, allowing us to spread the wisdom of others to the far reaches of the Twitterverse (potentially rivaling the “Beyond” section of Bed, Bath, and Beyond). You’ll also notice an increase in tweets regarding job postings, job fairs, and upcoming events such as open interviews, providing all of you tweeps with different local opportunities—something specifically asked for by one of our participants.

Another suggestion was to tweet more relevant blog posts. To fulfill this, we have been tweeting links to our blog, where each staff member lets their personality shine while providing valuable tips and advice in the process. Not only are we linking you to our blog, but we are also retweeting links to other relevant blogs to try and provide you with the most current and accurate information out there. Do you have an awesome career blog you would like us to tweet about? Be sure to share it in the comments below or @ us on twitter.

Finally, we had a request for more give-a-ways, such as this one, which we are already in the planning process for the future.

Pretty crazy huh?

We want to thank everyone who participated in the survey. Your feedback is extremely important to us, and we wanted to show you that by dedicating this blog post to you! We are listening, Syracuse.
